Muhammad Akbar Risuddin (big name for a big boy) was born September 24, 2009. He’s lying next to a baby born the same day here. Weighing 19.2 lbs., he’s the heaviest baby ever born in Indonesia but the big guy still can’t qualify as the biggest newborn ever in the world but fairly close to it.

A proud mother, Ani, in Indonesia delivered a really big boy, as you can see from this cute but odd photo. His name is Muhammad Akbar (Akbar means big in Arabic) Risuddin, and his home is in Medan, North Sumatra. Ani said she gave him the first name after the town’s mayor. You can see why she gave him is middle name, Akbar. Both mom and son are doing well today.

Muhammad isn’t the biggest newborn baby ever; the biggest newborn baby in the world was reportedly delivered by Anna Bates, of Canada, in 1879. According to the trusted Guinness Book of World Records, it weighed 23.12 pounds and unfortunately he died eleven hours after birth. The record for a baby who survived was a boy born weighing a whopping 22.5 pounds! Perhaps for privacy, there is not any more information given other than he was born in Aversa, Italy.
