Dog and ghost whisperers take a back seat to Andre Hartman. He is: The Shark Whisperer.

American photographer Doug Perrine was able to capture amazing images of Shark whisperer Hartman, an ex-fisherman, putting a terrifying 16ft Great White shark into a dream like trance off Cape Province, in South Africa.

The formidable man-eaters are lured to the surface with bait, by Andre who then strokes their super-sensitive snouts to hypnotize them.

Snapper Doug explained Hartman’s modus operandi behind the hypnosis to the Daily Mail. “Sharks’ noses are loaded with nerve endings – rubbing their snouts like Andre is doing is said to overload that sensory system.” Doug added, “The shark seemed to enter a pleasant, but confused state where it was dreamily seeking the source of the stimulus.”

Marine experts say Great Whites are quite intelligent and inquisitive creatures who have been given a bad reputation due to movies such as Jaws.

As a spear fisherman Andre had a number of encounters with great whites while free-diving in the waters off Cape Province.

Although initially terrified of them, Andre has learned that sharks are not usually out hunting people. It’s possible to interact with them with little danger once you understand how they communicate and react.

Some may claim Kenichi Ito has gone bananas.

According to Reuters, the 29-year-old Tokyo man has received inspiration from the African Patas monkey to develop a four-legged running style over the past eight and one half years. He squats like a simian when talking to others, walks in his suburban neighborhood and performs chores around the house on all fours.

He is doing more than monkeying around though.

According to Guinness World Records, Ito ran 100 meters on all fours in 18.58 seconds in November 2008 setting a world record for running 100 meters on all fours.

The International Business Times reported that Ito developed five more, different methods of movement on all fours. He studies the animal world via the internet and a season ticket to the zoo to get inspiration.

Curious stares are just one of the things Ito is faced with as he studies his craft. While practicing in the mountains, he told Reuters, he was shot at by a hunter who thought he was a wild boar.

ITV News reported that all the way back to childhood he has loved monkeys, which has strengthened his dedication. Having identified with animals from an early age, Ito says that, “Somewhere inside of me I had this ambition to adopt one of their traits.” When he saw a monkey running quickly, he was hooked, “From that point on” said Ito “I practiced running like a monkey every day.

Memory like an Elephant is true, they never forget—especially being burned by chili peppers.

Tanzanian farmers who are victims of rebounding Elephant populations invading their land and eating all the crops are thankful for that spicy fact.

According to Newser these giant Pachyderms are voracious eaters, consuming up to 660 pounds of food every day.

The dangers and prohibitive expense of electric fences warrant them useless, luckily an effective low-tech solution was found by the farmers: engine oil and chili peppers make up a brew that adheres to fences despite heavy rains.

Said Longwa, a local farmer, reported to the Wall Street Journal that, “[The Elephants] will it mull over and often circle two to three times. But once they get a real whiff of the chili, they snuffle and sneeze.”

Perfect solution: They leave.

The strategy of using the spicy brew is popular across Tanzania and other parts of East Africa: the fear is that the Elephants will become accustomed to the chili; so, according to Inquisitr, other approaches are being studied to cut the damage caused by the Elephants.

Setting out lines of beehives around the fields and installing radio collars on problematic Elephants is a couple of the methods being studied.

Lucas Malugu, and Elephant expert, told the Wall Street Journal that the Pachyderms hate bees flying up their trunks and stinging them, so beehive lines are being set up. When local villagers see an Elephant where they shouldn’t be, they “shake the hives to release the bees, sending the Elephants running.”

When Ben Franklin was the American colonies ambassador from 1757 to 1775, he lived in London along Craven Street in a four-story Georgian home. In 1998, the Friends of Benjamin Franklin worked to turn the rundown home into a museum to honor him. Franklin’s Philadelphia home was demolished in 1812 so new construction could occur.

Just a month into those renovations, Jim Field, a construction worker, found something odd while working in the basement. What he found was a tiny pit and, up out of the dirt, was a thigh bone… of human origin. Upon the discovery, police were called in to supervise the excavation. Additional human bones were found for a total of 1,200 bones.

Preliminary examinations showed the bones belonging to 10 bodies, six of which were children and dated about 200 years back. While Scotland Yard wasn’t interested in them, because of their age, historians as well as the Institute of Archaeology were highly interested in them. Why? It would mean that Franklin was living in the home at the same time these bones were buried in the basement.

Did Franklin Do It?

Was Franklin a serial killer? Further research on the bones showed that some of them had been sawed through, had scalpel marks or were drilled into. Thus, it wasn’t murder but rather an anatomical study. And, it wasn’t Franklin; it was his friend William Hewson.

Hewson was the student of William Hunter, an anatomist. That is, until the pair had a disagreement and Hewson chose to continue studying on his own. At this point in time, anatomy was in its infancy; but, the ethical and social morals of then didn’t like it. So, it was legally difficult to get a constant stream of human bodies. Thus, Hunter, Hewson and others in this field would rob graves – either digging the corpses up themselves or hiring professionals to do it for them – in order to get their “specimens”.

Researchers believe the 36 Craven Street home was the place where Hewson set up his anatomy lab. Hewson’s mother-in-law was the landlord, the tenant was someone he trusted and he had a number of sources he could turn to for corpses. Bodies were moved from their gravesites and transported to either the wharf on one side or from the gallows on the other side. When through with the corpses, Hewson buried the remaining body parts in the home’s basement instead of trying to dispose of them, which could have ended in legal troubles if he was caught.

Was Franklin involved? The jury is still out on that! Speculation still abounds for the Friends of Benjamin Franklin group. Franklin might have known what was taking place in the home but may not have actively participated in the dissection. After all, Franklin wasn’t as concerned with medicine as he was with physics.

Of course, it is possible that Franklin had no idea about the dissections, as he might have not been in the home when they were occurring. Evidence has revealed that Franklin permitted Hewson to use the home while he lived elsewhere with the landlady.

The year Franklin returned to North America, Hewson died from an infection. It happened after he accidentally cut himself while he dissected a decaying body.

Overlooking a cheering crowd of onlookers in Nepal, 31-year old Jujubhai Basan Shrestha put his hands together and raised them, recognizing them.

Shrestha, wearing a white turban, watches as a man places a 13-inch metallic skewer through his tongue during an ancient ritual in Bode, an underprivileged settlement, which lies eight miles east of Kathmandu.

The weekend scene, which occurred on the second day of the country’s New Year, is something new to the village of 8,000 folks from the pious Newar community. It’s believed that these were the early settlers of the Kathmandu valley. Folks also took in the delight of young dancers coiling and winding around in vermillion powder dust while beating on the cymbals and drums.

Shrestha said the event was to keep Bode’s culture alive. He said the ritual’s performance was an effort to save the countrymen and women from natural disasters such as famine, earthquakes and severe drought.

However, many doctors have said tongue piercing could result in large gaps in the front teeth or in infections. Shrestha, however, pierced his tongue for the fourth time, saying the motivation to do so came from faith. He has yet to experience any complications. He said God fulfills wishes, showing himself as proof. Shrestha said he had always wanted to get married before he began getting tongue piercings, which he has done.

A Look At Assurance and Legend

The ritual’s origin is the result of tales involving the devil harassing Bode residents over 1,600 years ago. According to the legend, a religious scholar captured the devil through his knowledge of Buddhist and Hindu text. The devil was in custody for many days. After the devil got his tongue pierced as his punishment and promised to protect the village inhabitants from any disaster, he was released. It’s thought that this ritual is an annual event.

Shrestha prepared for the ritual by fasting and abstaining from sex for 48 hours (two days). He shaved off his hair on Saturday. The ritual takes place in front of the Ganesh’s small temple. Ganesh is an elephant god that’s adulated for good luck.

Krishna Chandra Baga, who was responsible for piercing Shreastha’s tongue, said there was no bleeding or pain and it left no scar… despite the way it seemed at the time. Baga said he had his tongue impaled 12 times.

Women tossed propitious contributions of flowers and rice at Shreastha while wearing red saris with slim crimson red powder streaks in their hair. Shreastha kept the model rod in his tongue for two hours until he finally pulled it out.

31-year old French tourist Sophie said the event was frightening but extraordinary.

The winning entry for last year’s James Dyson Award goes to Edward Linnacre.

Linnacre, a student at Swinburne University in Melbourne, said he was inspired by the Namib beetle when he designed Airdrop. The beetle stretches out its wings into the early morning fog to collect droplets of water.

Airborn also removes moisture from the air, to irrigate crops in drought-stricken areas. Linnacre’s observation of the Namib Beetle showed that even the driest air contains molecules of water. The water molecules can be gathered when the air temperature is lowered to the point of condensation.

Airdrop works by using a turbine to drive air through a network of underground pipes. The air temperature is cooled rapidly to the soil temperature where it reaches 100% humidity. Water is produced which is collected in an underground tank. The water is pumped to the crops roots through an underground drip-irrigation system. The Airdrop system is self-powered and fully self-contained with an LCD screen that shows system health, pressure strength, solar-battery strength, and water levels in the tank. For drought-stricken areas that only receive a couple of inches of rainfall annually the 11.5 milliliters of water per 1 cubic meter of air is marvelous.

The $14,000 prize money will be used by Linnacre for testing of his system. As an encouragement to other young engineers the James Dyson Foundation awarded Swinburne University and additional $14,000.

Students from 18 countries submitted designs. Two runners up to Airdrop were Michael Korns’ KwickScreen, a retractable room divider, and Blindspot from Se Lui Chew. Blindspot is a navigational aide for the visually impaired. Korn is from London’s Royal College of Art and Chew is from the University of Singapore. There was a special mention for a full-arm prosthetic that went to Michal Prywata at Reyerson University. AmoArm eliminates the need for invasive re-innervation surgery. You may view all the entries at James Dyson Award.org

ComicConnect co-owner Vincent Zurolo said the idea of superheroes began with Superman. ComicConnect, which originates in New York, held the Internet auction. He said the $130 basically began the billion-dollar industry, citing the other commonly heard of superheroes: Spider-man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, etc.

And, much like superman, all of these have their own empire in movies and merchandise.

Zurzolo said the check is considered to be the “holy grail” for millions of comic book collectors and fans. He said people should consider what the world would be like if the check had not been written. Zurzolo said it’s possible the comic book industry would be non-existent.

The agreement that Shuster and Siegel signed to sell the rights in the late 1930s came back to bite them and their heirs, as they sued both DC Comics and the parent company Warner Bros. The Cleveland boys were childhood friends and sons of Jewish immigrants. They generated Superman while in their 20s and offered to sell the character in various places before DC comics bought it.

According to ComicConnect, Shuster was completely broke and working as a delivery man in 1978 when the first Superman movie was released. Worse, the $130 payment was added to a $402 check that failed to spell the boys’ name correctly, which forced them to endorse it correctly and incorrectly so they could get paid. Shuster passed away in 1992; Siegel died four years later in 1996.

The firm sold the check on behalf of a DC Comic employee’s heirs. It had been put away in a drawer for several decades. Zurzolo kept the buyer anonymous.

The check auction was held not long after the first issue of Action Comics, introducing the red-caped superhero, was sold for $2.16 million in December. The Action Comics comic was produced in 1938 and sold for 10 cents.

Speaking of bizarre things! In most developed nations, you use toilet paper, but now there’s a product that is trying to make toilet paper obsolete. Welcome to your toilet the Comfort Wipe.

It’s touted as being a sure way to be clean hygienically. No longer is there that question of any fecal matter somehow getting on your fingers. It seems to be sensible, if it does all that the Comfort Wipe is purported to do.

If you are a germaphobe, like Howie Mondel (American comedian), or physically disabled, it should be a very useful tool. It probably would do well for you if you are one of the many obese people trying to cope with the acquired hardships of daily living. Well, how does this Comfort Wipe work to wipe my butt, anyway, you may ask.

As a task analysis for your new, ultra-modern Comfort Wipe, here is how it is supposed to work. Instead of wadding up a lot of toilet paper, you can stuff it through the wand of the amazing Comfort Wipe, and efficiently do this chore of cleaning the rectum. The Comfort Wipe can easily be washed as needed with soap, water, and a disinfectant such as Lysol. Isn’t this wonderful? Even if you are physically fit, with no impeding fat or disability, maybe this is just the toilet tool for you, too. You will never have to touch soiled toilet paper again!

Asteroid, 2005 YU55, will pass a distance closer than the Earth’s distance from the moon.

The close encounter will be at 6:28 p.m. EST on November 8th and will be visible from the northern hemisphere, it will not be visible to the unaided eye.

But fear not the object has no chance of striking the earth or the moon. According to Lance Benner a research scientist for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. “2005 YU55 cannot hit Earth,”, “at least over the interval we can compute the motion reliably, which extends for several hundred years.”.

Asteroid 2005 YU55 is a C-type asteroid, a common type of asteroid. It probable is mostly made of carbon-based materials. This asteroid last visited the earth 18 months ago. This asteroid has “no chance” of hitting the Earth or the moon in the next 500 years.

Back in August of this year the U.S. saw an increase in U.F.O activity.

MUFON (The Mutual UFO Network) recorded an increase in sightings over a 6 month period of time around August 2011. Some states are listing more then double of numbers.

What is MUFON?

According their about page “MUFON officially began on May 31, 1969. At that time it was known as the Midwest UFO Network. As it outgrew the Midwestern state boundaries to become a world class UFO organization, the name was changed to Mutual UFO Network. That allowed the acronym MUFON to remain as the organization matured. Allen Utke, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Wisconsin State University was selected as the first MUFON Director. A year later Walter H.Andrus, Jr., replaced Dr. Utke as the MUFON Director, a position he held until 2000 when he retired and John F. Schuessler took over as International Director. John retired in November 2006 and James Carrion became the current International Director“:
