Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is unable to identify a dead mammal found on a Minnesota road on July 31, 2011. This strange animal is all white with five front paw claws, a long tail, extremely long toenails, and a dark patch of hair on its back. Some residents in the area now believe the legendary chupacabra was discovered (a legendary blood-sucking creature).

While driving on County Road 86, near her home in Alexandria, Lacy Ilse spotted the stark white dead creature.

“We saw something in the middle of the road, and we knew it wasn’t a dog or a cat, because it didn’t have hair. It had a clump of hair and all the rest was just white skin. Its ear was all mis-shaped. To me, it looked half-human,” Ilse reported to a local radio station.

Kevin Kotts, a DNR supervisor stated that the mammal resembles a badger, but its tail is much longer than a badger. He showed photos to other animal experts, but none could identify the species. Presently, they are running DNA tests on the carcass. Whatever species it is, this is one strange animal.

Among the odd animals of the world, is the Inca Tern, Larosterna Inca, it looks as if it has a moustache and it sounds like a cat! It is a large seabird in the family Sternidae. It has the distinction of being the only bird of the genus Larosterna, and is also in near danger of extinction.

The Inca Tern is large, at about 1 ½ feet (41 cm.) long. If you ever see a large, dark grey bird with a red beak and feet, with a white moustache painted along its face, and sounds just like a cat “mewing”, it will be the Inca Tern. You will also know that you are somewhere along the coast of Chile and Peru. This is the only place in the world that you will see this mustachioed bird that “meows”. It is isolated to the Humboldt Current.

Unlike other birds, the male and female have similar colors and markings; as adults they are slate-grey, with the white moustache, and white-tipped wings. As chicks, they are a deep purple-brown color, and grow the facial plumes until nearly grown.

It loves the rocky cliffs along the coast of Peru and Chile. It breeds and nests there. It nests in a hollow, and sometimes makes its home nest in an abandoned nest of a Humboldt Penguin. The Inca Tern lays only one or two eggs. The chicks leave their home after only 7 weeks.

The Inca Tern finds its prey by flying high above the water, then nose-diving like the incredible peregrine falcon. At an extremely high speed it dives into the water and grabs its dinner with its bright red beak. It can be heard “mewing” like a cat before it swoops down and attacks unsuspecting anchovies, or other small fish.

A monster prehistoric –size saltwater crocodile, 5.5m long, and undetermined weight (would you try to put it on a scale?) startled a boat full of unsuspecting tourists July 6, 2011. News photographer Katrina Bridgeford snapped this remarkable photo of the hungry croc nick-named Brutus, on the Adelaide River, which is over 100 km south of Darwin, Australia (Northern Territory).

Ms Bridgeford was on the terrifying cruise with her two sons Jordan, 14, and Dylan Woodward, 11, of Sydney, NSW, her four-year-old niece, Skye Bridgeford, and recovering boyfriend, Daniel Wilson. Her younger son, Dylan had this to say at the time the beast emerged too close to the boat, from the river depths, “HOLY CRAP!”

Brutus, you may have noticed is missing his right front leg. He lost in a fight with reportedly a great white shark. He’s also lost a few teeth from devouring wild boars. He is still extremely quick and dangerous on land, even though he is now estimated to be 80 years old. His brother, Dominator, is claimed to be two feet longer. They may be the two largest crocodiles in the world. I’ll take their word for it. Let’s leave the measuring tape for someone like Crocodile Dundee.

Lineville, Alabama’s 11-year-old Jamison Stone killed the world’s largest wild hog with a pistol. Facts are this beast weighed in at just 1,060 pounds, and were 9 feet 4 inches head to tail. It is larger than the famed Hogzilla, which was killed in Georgia, 2004. Taxidermist, Jerry Cunningham, told the Anniston Star this was “the biggest thing I’d ever seen…it’s huge.”

This monstrous pig was weighed at the Clay County Farmer’s Exchange in Lineville.

“It feels really good. I probably won’t ever kill anything else that big”, said Jamison. From Pickensville, Alabama, said in an interview with an Associated Press reporter. He said it took eight rounds with a .50-caliber revolver, and three ours tracking in hilly woods to slay the gargantuan ferule hog. This hog had 5-inch tusks. He said the beast charged head-on at him as he was sinking the first few bullets in it.

Jamison’s family plans to have sausage made from the huge animal. It could mean up to 700 pounds of meat. He is already getting various move offers from his newly-formed fame. Several celebrities have called to congratulate him for the record wild boar kill. Rickey Medlocke, of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kenny Chesney, the country music star, Jerry Miculek of Smith & Wesson, and others have sent words of celebration. Jamison Stone informed them all that he plans to go after game birds in the future; this kill almost had him as the prey.

Known as skilled navigators of Morocco’s mountains, it’s no surprise to the locals when a herd of these goats take to the trees. Yes you heard me right, these goats climb trees! They are often seen at heights of 30 feet (about 9 meters) in the air.

The Morocco goats climb the Argan trees of Morocco in search of food, which there is very little of at the ground level. These remarkable goats are highly skilled at climbing – they frolic across trees with a sure-footedness that is incredulous for a hoofed animal. At times, they have been observed to walk at a near-vertical angle!

The feces of the goats contain the kernels of the seeds they consume which are, oddly enough, used by the local inhabitants. Among bizarre things: the residents in this area take the feces and grind it into oil. The oil is used for cooking and eating (people eat the feces) and for a cosmetic (yes, they also smear it on themselves). For a quarter-liter bottle of this goat-digested kernel-oil you can expect to pay from 15 to 50 dollars. What a deal!

The 2011 Guinness World Records book shows this strange animal, Fluffy, the largest snake in captivity, the reticulated python now at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio. She is the longest snake in custody, at 24 ft. (7.3m). (Scroll down to see video)

Pythons catch an animal with their teeth and then constrict around it to suffocate it. Then, the prey is swallowed whole. Females incubate their eggs by coiling their body around them. They keep them at a constant 89 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fluffy has been quite a celebrity. She was supposed to have a role in the movie, Snakes on a Plane, but according to zoo officials was unable to make the flight. Just like a Hollywood celeb! However, she has made the scene elsewhere. Jack Hannah of the Columbus zoo has brought Fluffy on as a guest to the David Letterman show, in which Letterman had to run from his desk for a brief moment from shock of seeing such a bizarre thing!

Some facts about Fluffy; it is a reticulated python, python reticulates, is the world’s largest exhibited snake. Fluffy is over 24 feet long, 300 pounds. Fluffy’s waist is the size of a watermelon. Unfortunately Fluffy died on October, 26, 2010, at 15 years old. She now has a daughter at the zoo, named Hanna, after a contest announced in December 2010. Reportedly, her stuffed body is still on exhibit at the zoo.

According to Guinness World Records 2005, the world’s longest captured snake was a reticulated python, which was 32 ft. 9.5 in. It was killed in Celebes, Indonesia, in 1912. However, the green anaconda is typically much heavier, and nearly as long as any python found. Neither one you want to meet in the wild!

The world’s biggest fish, the whale shark is a gentle giant that is bigger than a school bus. They thrive wherever there is warm water, and many live off the shore of the Philippines. The whale shark maxing out at about 46 feet in length and weighing up to about 3,300 pounds.

The whales shark sounds ferocious by its name and monstrous size. They are definitely strange animals, yet believe it or not they are just gentle giants. Their mouth plenty large enough to swallow a human, but their stomach opening is small. So, don’t worry, they can’t swallow a human. They actually skim along the surface, and consume huge quantities of plankton and krill.

If you ever plan to tell someone you spotted one, who’s not been around these monsters of the sea, be sure to bring your camera. You will have proof about the biggest whopper on the planet that got away.

Here are ten very odd animals on planet earth, with a few mentioned that are only recent discoveries. 99 percent of our planet’s species are gone forever. There still are many species that we still have on earth, but are just not aware of in our everyday life. With recent technology, too, we are finding new species. So, treat your eyes to these ten lovelies, perhaps for the first time.

1.	The Honduran Ghost Bat inhabits Central America, and is only a few inches long. It weighs five grams, about the weight of a couple small coins. It is only one of two bat species this color, and never lives in caves. It will cling to the underside of large leaves, and may go unnoticed by predators. They often live in colonies of six, and eat fruit.

2.	The Tarsier Monkey lives on Bohol Island in central Philippines. It’s a very strange animal that I have personally observed. They can fit in th palm of your hand. It can turn its little head 180 degrees, thanks to evolution, because it is unable to move its eyes from side-to-side.

3.	The Mexican Walking Fish is actually a salamander. It is facing extinction due to pollution and encroachment by man into its habitat.

4.	The ghostly-looking hatchet fish lives in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans. It actually generates light when about to be attacked by a predator, which camouflages it. It actually resembles a hatchet, so it’s easy for a predator to overlook this flatfish.

5.	The world’s strangest fish may be the huge ocean sunfish. It weighs almost two tons, and has a roundish body. The head is one-third of the entire fish. It’s been spotted off the coasts of countries around the world, and thrives in the oceans.

6.	This strange animal lives often under people’s porches in areas of China. The giant salamander can reach nearly two meters in length.

7.The Horror Frog, of Cameroon, is known also as the wolverine frog. It breaks off bones to grow claws when threatened, and has fur on its sides.

8.	This three-headed frog was seen hopping through a children’s nursery school in Weston-super-Mare, England. It probably was another mutation of an animal due to pollution.

9.	Believe it or not, this strange animal is a parakeet. It has a mutation that gives it the name of featherduster.

10.	This strange animal was an exciting discovery recently in the jungle of Mura, Brazil. It’s a species of saddleback Tamarin that is much smaller than all other species. This little fella weighs only about 12 ounces ( weight of a bottled soda), with a body of 9 inches. Yet, its tail is 12 inches long.

I have heard of the phrase “two-faced,” but never knew it could be a real thing. The kitten in this odd photo not only has two faces, but she can meow out of both of them. This little cutie was born in 2008 in Perth, Australia and is said to be doing just fine to this day.

Pictures of her qualify as some crazy animal photos, but she is still as cute as heck. The mother had complications at the time of birth, and she was the only one of her litter born with any abnormalities.

The owners have named it Quasimodo, and it is a truly rare sight indeed. There have been many cats born with an extra leg or tail, but very few with a full extra and functioning face.
