Strange circumstances brings a 33 foot whale to a grassy field more then 800 yards from the shore of Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
This may be a rare Sei whale, and only 3 occasions in the last 20 years has this species been found beached in the UK.
Some scientists suspect this mammal became stranded and died after an abnormally high tide carried it to a salt marsh. But others have different theories. During the summer 10 Minke whales were spotted regularly off the North Yorkshire coast from Whitby to Scarborough. Whale experts admit they do not know the cause in the increase in sightings.
